“Wide World of Surfing” is a half-hour "Specialette" featuring fast-moving coverage of modern surfing.

The presentation covers as much area as possible in a short time. The surfing sequences were filmed in California, Florida, Hawaii and Australia.

Each surfing sequence is accompanied by conversations with top surfers such as Mike Purpus and Dewey Weber. The interviews continue behind the actual surfing to describe surfing techniques, wave-riding sensations, and an atmosphere that could only be conveyed by the actual surfers themselves.

The host is Jamie Budge, a young producer who has emceed numerous surfing competitions nation-wide. This experience enables him to bridge the gap between the contemporary surfers and the general public.

The show runs 22 1/2 minutes in length with three commercial slugs. It was produced in full color 16mm with an optical sound track and an original music score.
