Dave Sanderson was the self-proclaimed Mayor of the Snake Pit.
He worked as the circulation manager for "The Argonaut" newspaper. He sold his first newspaper at the age of six on the corner of 9th and Union Streets in downtown Los Angeles, and continued to be a newspaper carrier throughout school.
In high school, he studied printing and photography, and graduated with an associate arts degree in theater arts from Los Angeles City College. For several years, he was a technician in Los Angeles area theaters.
